There is still some grass in the pastures for the cows, but not quite enough to keep their bellies full and their milk production high. Topher is bringing them bales of hay to supplement what is growing fresh. This cow knew that the tractor brought her feed, but was looking for it in the wrong place.
Topher and Jen roll out the bale to allow the whole herd to be able to comfortably stand next to one another and chow down. We don’t want to cows to fight too much for their food, so rolling it out makes things more equal for everyone.
