Wholesale & Operations Coordinator

Cricket Creek is seeking a part-time Wholesale & Operations Coordinator – this person works approximately 25-30 hrs per week and fulfills all our wholesale orders. Order fulfillment begins in our creamery with pulling and wrapping cheese, which is then packed into cases for shipment and delivery, and typically involves making one or two local deliveries (Bennington area & West Stockbridge area). This role includes inventory management and responsibility for the cleanliness and organization of our inventory and fulfillment spaces. Beyond the wholesale responsibilities, this person participates in daily and weekly upkeep of our farm store — receiving weekly orders, stocking shelves, cleaning, etc. This role also includes supporting our farmers market program — packing cheese to go to farmers markets each week and organizing the cheese that was not sold.

Other responsibilities include making a weekly recycling run and maintaining cleanliness of work stations and the farm store. Occasionally, this person is expected to fill in if a colleague is absent by taking care of some of the cheese that is aging, filling raw milk for our farm store, or taking care of other entry-level tasks. There is the potential for additional hours and growth in responsibility.

SCHEDULE + REQUIREMENTS
Work days are Monday through Friday. Hours are 8am–2pm or 8am–4:30pm, as needed. If interested in working a farmers market next spring, this schedule would be shifted to Tuesday-Saturday.

There is no time for boredom in this role as there is lots to do! Strong communication skills as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential to this role. Good time management skills are critical. Must be extremely detail oriented, and efficient but careful. Mistakes can cost us big time with this role — all of our wholesale customers depend on you!

Must be able to lift 40 lbs and have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to/from the farm. Must be able to climb stairs regularly and occasionally navigate uneven terrain outdoors.

This role works closely with our Operations Manager and our Head Cheesemaker, and is supervised by our Operations Manager.

COMPENSATION
Compensation starts at $14.25 per hour + complimentary farm fresh raw milk and cheese. You also receive a 20% discount on our pasture raised beef and rose veal, and our whey-fed pork, as well as all products in our farm store. Staff also have complimentary access to a “seconds” section of the meat freezer, where meat with broken vacuum seals or freezer burn are stored, as well as access to ordering groceries at cost. These additional food benefits typically add up to savings equivalent to a $1-2/hr increase in pay.

Shared housing (a private room in a shared house) may be available as part of the compensation package for the right candidate. Housing is valued at a certain price point and that dollar amount is deducted from an employee’s pay each month.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Cricket Creek Farm is a small, grass-based cow dairy nestled in the Berkshire hills of Williamstown, MA. We produce raw milk, grass-fed beef and whey-fed pork, in addition to 7 different styles of artisanal farmstead cheeses. We generally milk between 35-40 cows at a time, and care for 80-100 animals in total. We attend several local farmers markets, have a small on-farm store, and have an apprenticeship program in our creamery.

Our mission is to produce nourishing food that honors our animals, respects the land, and feeds our community, and to exemplify a sustainable model for small-farm viability.
